10/10: Alexandre Koberidze

Alexandre Koberidze, the director of Dry Leaf and What Do We See When We Look at the Sky?, shares his ten favorite films from the past ten years, along with a brief introduction.

It is difficult to make a list of the best films; that is one of the differences between sports and art: in one case, competition is a necessity, in the other, it an impossibility. There is a space where all good films live, and there is no competition between them. How can a film by Aki Kaurismäki be better than a film by Ken Loach, or vice versa? Both are wonderful and both can wonderfully coexist. If, however, I were to draw up a list of the ten best films of the last ten years – they would be the first ten films that I love and that came to mind first. Here they are in order as I was remembering them:

1. Certain Women (Kelly Reichardt, 2016)

2. Fallen Leaves (Aki Kaurismäki, 2023)

3. Another Round (Thomas Vinterberg, 2020)

4. Twin Peaks: The Return (David Lynch, 2017)

5. Phantoms of July (Julian Radlmaier, 2025)

6. The Day She Returns (Hong Sangsoo, 2026)

7. Holy Electricity (Tato Kotetishvili, 2024)

8. Results (Andrew Bujalski, 2016)

9. The Young Pope (Paolo Sorrentino, 2016)

10. Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David, 2000-2024)
